Beliefe - John Mayer |

Even though I denounced the Academy Awards last year after my favourite film, Brokeback Mountain, was passed over for the Best Film award, I have recently found myself obsessed with the lead-up to the 79th Academy Awards. It seems strange to me that as a culture, so many people are concerned and engrossed in the business of self-congratulatory awards ceremonies. Hollywood would have to be the worst offender in awarding itself for a 'job well done' and I have recently begun to ask myself why this is. I have come to the conclusion that it has to o with money. Money is the reason film companies hire specialised promotions agencies if they feel the have an 'Oscar Contender' on their hands. In 2006, after staging a huge upset at that year's awards, the Best Film winner, Crash, was re-released at cinemas around the world, upping it's box-office takings along with DVD sales. I will not be watching the Academy Awards this year. i will, however, be looking up the results out of pure curiosity. I wish to see which of my favourites in the categories take home a statuette and which are passed over. Of each of the five Best Film nominees for this year, I have only seen one, Babel. For this reason, when the nominees were announced last month, I declared that I wished it to win the top prize. For some reason though, I am now rooting for 'the little indie film that could', Little Miss Sunshine. I am not sure how or when this change of heart occurred but I have a feeling it has something to do with the slew of articles I have read about the nominees over the last 5 months or whether it is simply my natural urge to support the underdog. If Crash can stage an upset and steal an award from the most awarded film in history, then why can't Sunshine?

How To Save A Life - The Fray |

So Hannah did it again - I simply took over some photos to her mum cos a friend had left them with us while they were out. I saw Hannah for maybe 5 minutes and we arranged to watch Grey's Anatomy tonight and are going for a walk later. I'm much happier today already. Not that I was unhappy. I was just bored and stuff. I'm almost finished watching season 3 of Dawson's Creek after finally getting bloody disc 5 to work in a DVD player so yay! I think I have 1 or 2 episodes to go which means yay! I think I'm gonna watch Buffy after I finish DC...although I should borrow Rian's Grey's Anatomy DVD I got her in the States so I can catch up on what I missed while I was away!!!!11one!!!!!!eleven Once again - excited to spend time with Hannah later!!!

How To Save A Life - The Fray |

Yeah - my mood is 'meh'. That's pretty much how I feel lately. I'm so bored! I spend at least 2 hours each day in front of the computer. And don't even ask me how long I spend in front of the TV and I spend at least half an hour each day just wandering aimlessly around the house trying to think of something interesting to do. But nothing happens. I feel so emo. Cos I barely talk to my parents these days after the fight we had the other night - they pretty much said it was nice while I was gone cos my brother and I couldn't fight with each other and it was very peaceful. The whole argument made me very angry and pissed off with the whole family. I've barely spoken 5 words to Ashley since and Mum and Dad have shared perhaps 50...if they're lucky. And then tonight after I had just finished watching Sister Act - Dad comes in and starts preaching to me about how I'm so depressed cos i haven't spoken to the family since the fight...gaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I ended up asking him to leave cos he was pissing me off. Rant over now cos I'm too lazy to type anymore. ~Joel

Waiting On The World To Change - John Mayer |

I love Hannah. Seriously. I've been in a bad mood all day today due to a massive fight I had with my parents and Brother at 12ish last night and by making one phone call to Hannah and arranging to go for a walk with her soon - she has made my day. Anyways, now that I'm in a better mood - I'm really in the mood to finish my prject that I started earlier but I have to wait for some more materials that should arrive some time this week or next...with any luck. So, for those of you who know me in real life - but if you don't know me in real life, then I'm not sure why you're reading this... - you'll know that I've recently returned from a 3 month trip to the USA which was amazing!!! I came home with a new favourite Musical (Wicked), much Disney merchandise, hundreds of photos, countless memories, and a few holes in my heart in the shape of the people I miss. The holes are these shapes:
Kit: My best friend. I can't wait to see him again!!!
Biebs: My one-of-a-kind non-emo emo friend with the voice of an angel
Julie and Brickman: My two favourite CITs ever! Julie was my Hannah while I was away and I'll love her forever for that
Sam and Debra and Debra's Boobs: If I could have had anyone in miniature size to carry around with me forever, it's be these 3!
My second session kids: I loved these guys. They were amazing kids
So anyways, I have to go now cos I'm walking with Hannah any minute now and I need to change out of my Snoopy Pajamas and into a wark Camp Harlam hoodie and some jeans cos it's freakin freezing outside!!! And inside for that matter. So until next time.

I have a new addition to the list of my favourite things in the world. Number goodness knows what: When Michael J Fox does is a guest star on my favourite tv shows. So far he's been on Scrubs and Boston Legal and both times he's made each episode so much better than any other in the series. So thankyou Michael J Fox. I salute you.

[Mood] - Relaxed [Music] Together We Are One - Delta Goodrem
So this Journal went into hibernation for a while recently. Partly because of Christi's uber-collage that I made for her birthday. But mostly due to the fact that my brother used up all 100% of our DSL connection-speed boradband hours in 5 days. So we had to wait over 3 weeks at excutiatingly slow connection to get it back to it's glorious speedy speediness! LOTS to update on but so very little time..actially, that's a lie. I have nothing but time right now:
I guess the first major news would be that I got my P_Plates!!! Yes indeedy. I am now an official P-Plated maniac. As soon as I swapped those bright yellow cardboard squares for white plastic ones drivers instantly began to hate me and I felt compelled to speed, text on my phone, fiddle constantly with the cd player and drive with only one hand on the wheel. Big changes.
Soon after that, was Christi's party which was very fun. Dimity turned out to be the killer. I always knew she was capable of killing. Bitch.
OK, so this updating thing is boring me already. I had planned to vent out my frustrations about a certain incident that has captivated the whole of Australia. But I won't now. I will later.

[Mood] - Hyper [Music] Never Never - Texas Lightning
So I have officially chosen my Eurovision country of choice for this year. I have chosen Germany for 2 resons:
1. It's a really, really cool, funky, upbeat song that gets you going. 2. It gives me an opportunity to dress in a cowboy theme!
So I'm pretty happy about that. Just over a month till the main event so we can start a countdown I guess!
Um, nothing much else to say really, the project I'm working on at the moment consumes most of my time which is why I don't post graphics at the moment - there is just the one right now and it's not finished yet... Choccy day tomorrow! Hurrah for choccy!

[Mood] - Pensive [Music] Twentysomething - Jamie Cullum
So I had a very strange dream last night. Well, it was more disturbing than strange, but it was very strange as well. Now, first off, let me tell you that it isn't often that I remember my dreams but this one will be very hard to forget. My heart rate is going up as I thhink about it now, some 10 hours later. This is how it went:
I can't remember exactly how I got there but I was in an abulance and the paramedics were trying to get me to start breathing again. They tried but then they discovered something which meant that no matter what they did, I was going to die. So they said it was best to leave me in peace. So there I was on the Gosford waterfront (which had a small beachy strip attached to it), sitting on the wall, with my breath getting shorter and shorter. People present: Mum and the person I have liked for about 5 months. Anyways, no one was saying anything, mum was sitting at her study desk (don't know why it was there but it was) and she was doing tax forms or something really boring. And I was just sitting there running out of air minute after minute. And then I realized that I didn't want to die without the person I like knowing how I feel about them but I couldn't talk.... So I began rummaging in mum's desk for a peice of paper and a pen. Which I finally found - no thanks to mum. I started to write Mum and Dad a note to say goodbye to them. Then I started to write a note to this person. But I woke up and never got past the first line of either note.
Can I just say that this was the most distressing dream I have ever had. My heart rate goes up every time I have thought about it today and I start to panic. I don't know if it was just a random dream that should be ignored or something in my subconcious... anywho, I guess I'll never know. But I needed to get this out of my system Cos it's really shaken me up... though I'm no closer to telling this person that I like them.
So thankyou for reading this (if you have) and I hope you have a lovely week. Your thoughts on this entry are most welcome.

[Mood] - Tired [Mood 2] - Amused
So I'm bored, right? And I'm also tired but I don't want to go to sleep. So I'm wandering aimlessly around the internet hoping for something to do. And then, inspiration struck - I would visit the official Jake Gyllenhaal website. Twas tres funness of uberlisciousness. Not a whole lot there that i didn't already know - but I did find out that Mr Gyllenhaal starred in a play in London a couple of years ago with Anna Paquin and Hayden Christiansen and he won an award for it. That was pretty cool information... Then, when reading his filmography, I discovered a link to the official Donnie Darko website...'What the heck?' I thought. I took a chance and had quite a good time. It is a higly intereactive website quite unlike any other that I have been to. It expands on the movies plot, themes and characters and the user has to find passwords to advance to the different levels. So I rushed over here, after finishing making my way through aforementioned website, to post a post about my lovely time at the Donnie Darko official website. I recomend going there... www.donniedarko.com

Hurrah! Guess what I've decided? Fuck the Academy! Who needs them? I have become completely disillusioned with the whole process and from now on, I shall pay no more attention to their crappy decisions! I don't know why I did in the first place. I urge you to do the same!!
Well, that's really all I have right now except I have become very creative recently and have been playing in paintshop and here is what I've made:

[Mood] [Music] I Walk the Line - Joaquin Phoenix
Ok, so could this movie awards season get ANY better? Seriously! I saw Walk the Line with Dim the other night. Jeez, it's good. It slots in just behind Brokeback Mountain! Joaquin and Reese were incredible. Not only was their acting superb, but their singing was top-notch as well. I am currently listening to the soundtrack and it's rocking my socks quite hard! Before I saw the movie, I wanted Felicity Huffman to win the Oscar for Leading Actress but now I'm fully behind Reese. I sooo hope she takes it out. She REALLY deserves it! But if Felicity comes up trumps, then I'm cool with that. Same deal with Heath and Joaquin... even though Hoffman is the absoloute outright favourite to win it, if either of those two wins, I'll be happy :) Ok, that's all I really have, I could describe James' shindig last night but, sorry James, it just doesn't belong in the same entry as Walk the Line...lol

[Mood] - Tired [Music] Far Away - Nickelback
So, recently (as in sometime last year) I realized how uncool Tommy (aka 'The Green Ranger', 'The White Ranger', 'The Red Zeo Ranger', 'The Red Turbo Ranger', and 'The Black Dino Thunder Ranger' is. I mean, like most kids, I used to think that Tommy was by far the coolest Power Ranger ever. He had the coolest suit (it has a gold shield for Green and White), and weapons (The Dragon Dagger and Saba) and Zords, (The Dragonzord and The White Tiger Zord). When really, he's not that cool. I think people think that he's the best cos he's the sixth Ranger for his early time on the team and is the leader from pretty much when he becomes the White Ranger. But the thing is, Jason is much, much, much cooler than Tommy and I have no idea what Kimberly ever saw in him - she was waaaay to good for Tommy. She should have gone for Jason (did you notice the chemistry between the in 'Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie'?). Jason was better-looking, was a better fighter, and if she didn't want to go for him and settled for Jason, why didn't she move onto Adam? A much more worthy person for her to spend her time with. Even if he's not a leader... Adam made the Black Ranger much cooler for me at least and so I respect him for that. It kind of sucks that the Black Ranger was made into Green Ranger for Power Rangers Zeo and Turbo but all was put right again in Power Rangers in Space but then it went back to a Green Ranger again in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Where it went to from there, I don't know because they stopped airing Power Rangers here a few episodes into Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue (a good thing too cos it pretty much bitchified the whole Power Rangers legacy for me)... It also has to be said that after 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie' was made, the American studios responsible for the series should have realized how much better the quality was when they didn't use footage from the original Japanese 'Sentai' series (which, incidently, was made in the 1970s!!!) and gone out on their own. You can see the difference in quality from Season One to Season Two when Lord Zedd was introduced (he wasn't in the Japanese series I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) and they were able to create an elaborate plot for the overthrow of Rita which used an footage that wasn't just random shots spliced together to make the villians look like they were having a conversation. I'm not sure exactly when the movie was made but I'm pretty sure it was released in between the second and third seasons... Then, for 'Turbo', they used shitty techniques for the Megazord sequence which pretty much ruined the movie...that and the fact that the Rangers din't actually fight as Rangers until the very end...jeez!
What you have just read is a fair few of my qualms about the series 'Power Rangers'...having said all that, I can still enjoy the show but I just have to ignore the annoying thoughts in the back of my brain that points out every little flaw in the show. And, yes, Kimberly, the original Pink Ranger is my favourite Power Ranger ever, followed closely by Jason, the original Red Ranger and then Zhane, the Silver Space Ranger. Tommy comes very close to the bottom of the list when I list every Ranger in order of preference... So, yeah...
